Planchez is a commune in Nièvre, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region, 15 km northeast of Château-Chinon.
Its territory with an area of 43 km² belongs to the natural region of Morvan, and ranges from 349 to 726 m above sea level. Between the lakes of Pannecière to the west and Settons to the east, the landscape of the commune is made up of deep valleys and wooded hills on its western part, and a fairly high plateau (600 m above sea level). average) and also wooded for the rest.

In terms of heritage, the village has several points of interest: the case of the dolmen located in the locality of Grand'-horns, but the mill of Presle, whose presence is attested from the sixteenth century. Remains of a medieval gatehouse are also visible, especially the Saint-Sulpice church, erected in the sixteenth century and rebuilt in the nineteenth and twentieth. It is set near the pond of the Fox, in the village, and adjacent to a recreation area with tennis courts, bowling green and tennis court free of charge.

The wooded and hilly area of the town is also a paradise for hikers.
Courses are dedicated to motorcycle enthusiasts all terrain 4x4 vehicles and quad bikes.
In terms of hiking, three marked hiking trails are in place (for a total of 68 km of circuits). They are connected to potentially wider loops like the GR of the Morvan Tour that runs through the city or the GR 13 (which connects Fontainebleau to Bourbon-Lancy in Saône-et-Loire).
