Originally, the official name of the town was Saint Bonnet - Sadroc. In the 17th century, the name of the ENFANTIER replaces the Sadroc due to the presence of a miraculous fountain reputed to cure diseases of children.
Since 1987, the municipality has established its arms according to research. The weapons used are those of Gabriel Nicolas de la Reynie, police lieutenant of Louis 14th and was the lord of Jenouilhac. Also included are the weapons of Comborn.
Saint-Bonnet-l'Enfantier was in the wake of the Viscount of Comborn. The parish of Saint Bonnet is known in the texts from the mid 10th century it was the schedule to that of Sadroc sometimes called Saint-Bonnet de Sadran. St Bonnet was a holy bishop of Auvergne and nine churches are devoted in Limousin. From the 11th century the abbey of Tulle becomes the owner.
