The perched village of Miremont owes its name to an Occitan origin: "mira", for "look" and "mount", used for a high place. He majestically dominates the valley. Its feudal keep, of the XIIIth century, overhangs ramparts collapsed. The mansions and bourgeois houses testify to the presence of the Masters of Forges who, formerly assured a metallurgical industry on the banks of the brook Manaurie.
Further away from the valley, the village of Mauzens keeps the warm colors of the stone of the same name. Today still the exploitation of quarries of building stone contributes to the vitality and fame of the town.
