Le Saulchoy is a small village with agricultural vocation which has preserved its medieval configuration with the Saint-Firmin church, the old seigniorial farm and the dwellings around.
Le Saulchoy has often changed its name (Le Saulchoy Gallet, Saulchoix, Saussoy, Chauchois....) and comes from the Latin name salix: willow.
Tradition has it that the village was formerly north-west of its current location and was called Burgundy.
The cemetery (away from the present village) was long common to the villages of Le Gallet, Viefvillers and Le Saulchoy (created following an epidemic).
