Things to see and do

Built in the twelfth century, the church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens is now listed as an historic monument. With a square bell tower and a presbytery at the end of the 16th century, it was completely rebuilt during the 19th century. It mixes with harmony a Romanesque style and a Neo-Gothic style.

Classified as an historic monument, the castle of Yquem unveils buildings of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He is particularly known for the frescoes of his chapel, his chimneys, and the frescoes of the main building. Winemaking area appreciated in the region, it produces a sauternes ranked first superior raw.

While strolling in the village, do not miss to admire the statue of the Virgin on the pediment of the town hall, the wash-house below the church or the beautiful war memorial.

Several wineries still produce large sauternes today and can be discovered during a walk in the region, like the castles of Arche, Filhot, Guiraud, Lamothe Despujols, Lamothe Guignard, and Raymond Lafon.

The town also presents a House Sauternes tracing the history of wine culture in the region.
