The village of Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei lies in the heart of the Mancelles Alps in Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park overlooking a meander of the Sarthe and is listed as one of France's Most Beautiful Villages. This charming and very romantic place was the source of inspiration for many famous painters including Corot, Courbet and Harpignies. The picturesque bridge spanning the river, pretty stone houses, Romanesque church and Gothic Petit Saint-Céneri chapel make it a lovely place for a stroll.

The village church is topped by a fine bell tower and contains some notable frescoes dating from the 12th and 14th centuries, including depictions of Christ in Majesty, the Virgin in a mantle and the hermit St Céneri.

From the chevet of the church you have a beautiful view over the green banks of the Sarthe.
