Meillant

A short distance from Saint-Amand-Montrond, surrounded by three forests and numerous ponds, village Meillant stands out for its castle, a jewel of Gothic.

At the center of an English park, this sumptuous residence offers two very different faces, one medieval and the other Renaissance and richly furnished rooms that tell the history of France through the centuries. The church of Saint-Aubin is dated the eleventh, twelfth and sixteenth centuries. The bell tower dates back to the Renaissance.

The goat, nearby, located in the Grand Sarzay, lets enjoy the flavors of Berry.

On the hiking trail Meillant-Tronçais who share Meillant connects the Celle, Bruere, Noirlac, Lake Virlay, through Saint-Amand-Montrond, take the path round Montrond, Drevant, the bridge of the Tranchasse the Colombiers village, then Coust, Charenton-du-Cher to finally reach Saint-Bonnet-Tronçais in the Allier. Either a course of 55 kilometers could be done on foot, by bike, but also on some sections, on horseback.
