Located in the north of the territory, La Boissière-des-Landes is a town a few minutes from La Roche-sur-Yon and 20 km from the coast.
In 1790, when the department was created under the name "Vendée", La Boissière became a commune. It comes from the parishes of La Boissière and Fossés Châlon and is part of the canton of Poiroux. It took the name La Boissière des Landes in the 19th century and became part of the canton of Moutiers in 1803. In March 1789, parish elections to the Estates General took place and the first mayor, François Espaud, was elected. Pierre Rayneau succeeded him in 1792.
