La Maison du Rhône river:

For 20 years, the Maison du Rhône river works to discover the social and cultural value of the Rhone, to promote the diversity of its uses and to support the development of areas along the Rhône. The Star City of Givors:

Passionate about architecture? The architectural and urban Star Renaudie, built between 1974 and 1981 by the architect Jean Renaudie, received in September 2003, the Heritage label of the 20th century. This area backs onto the hill of St. Gerald consists mainly of social housing and public services. Struggling against the trivialization of great together while remaining within the spirit of the modern movement, Jean Renaudie designed a star-shaped architecture allowing the majority of homes have one or more roof gardens. This project is the brainchild of Mayor Camille Vallin that wanted to build a popular area of quality downtown.

The castle of St. Gerald:

The Château Saint-Gerald or "fortified house" was built in the 13th century by the Archbishop of Lyon Renaud de Forez to protect the new toll on goods transported on land and on water. The medieval town grew around the castle was destroyed during the wars of religion in 1591 by the Duke of Lesdiguières. The ruins were rediscovered in 1974 when the destruction of the Old Givors and construction of Star Renaudie.

The Saint-Nicolas church

Placed under the protection of Saint Nicolas, patron of sailors and river people, this is one of three churches Givors. The first St. Nicolas church was built by sailors in the 15th century.
Completed in 1822, it is Greco-Roman style houses and organs out of the Parisian workshop of Joseph Merklin, classified as a historical monument in 1986. Famous for its stained glass, there are also outside a scale reflecting flood flooding.

Industrial Heritage:

Industrial City in the 18th century, Givors keeps many traces of the past. The first industry was Skippers early mariners operating the privileged position of the city. Ideally located at the confluence of the Rhone and Gier, the givordine industry has developed thanks to this exceptional location. Glassware was one of the first industries to set up in 1749. Become the 19th and 20th centuries glass Souchon-Neuvesel then BSN, they were the flagship of givordine industry until 2003. Tower glassware is still visible along the Gier, behind the train station Givors city. Channel Givors, commissioned in 1780 and connecting Givors to Rive-de-Gier then Grand Cross was also instrumental in the development of the city, thanks to referrals from Coal Valley Gier. It was covered by the A47 in 1970. It is now possible to see the old canal house, instead of the basin.

This free public water spot has 21 mooring rings including 9 reserved for transient boaters. Token terminals allow access to fluids (water and electricity) ... Equipment Grand Lyon. Tokens on sale at the Tourist Office and from the staff on duty.

City of Grigny: A few miles Givors, find Grigny and heritage. Of the town hall with murals of the 17th century, the church of St Peter 12th century, you can go through the house Hosotte with local collections of hats and earthenware. You will also admire the Manoir and the banks of the Rhone. So you can walk the lônes, ox-bow lakes, to the neighboring town of Vernaison.
