Rive-de-Gier The industrial heritage is certainly the main attraction of the city, allowing to learn more about the lives of people during the nineteenth century.

can discover the Rive-de-Gier channel, classified in the inventory of Historical Monuments, the old tunnel Couzon first French rail tunnel, or the Gourd Marino site. The latter is one of the witnesses of mining in the nineteenth century, with the presence of the well, as well as the old building of the bathhouse. This is the first in the whole Etienne basin with hot pool for minors. The brand is registered since 1990 in the inventory of Historical Monuments.

Also listed as a historic monument, the headframe of the well Combélibert is the only wooden headframe dating from the nineteenth century still in place in Europe. It is also an important relic of coal mining during the Industrial Revolution in France.

Rive-de-Gier welcomes beautiful houses, like the castle Mouillon. The central part of the house dates back to the eighteenth century, while the various successive developments date from the nineteenth century. Former property of industrial families, some of its parts like the lobby, the old dining room, the large oval room or the garden, its included in the inventory of Historical Monuments.

Built in the late nineteenth century, the house of stone Men deserves a visit. Situated not far from the factory of Marrel brothers, she has on its facade of stone balconies in ironwork, carved window frames, as well as two stone statues of men. Inside, interconnecting reception rooms, a Louis XV style fireplace or a nice toilet area with fitted sinks in carved woodwork. To access the interior courtyard, a beautiful canopy decorated with floral patterns is available.

Rive-de-Gier also home to the Notre Dame church, built in the early nineteenth century and listed as a historic monument, as its interior.

Rive-de-Gier no shortage of entertainment to illuminate its streets and its town center throughout the year.

Rive-de-Gier not welcome under three different weekly markets on Wednesday from 8 to 13h on the square of Drill, Tuesday and Friday from 8 am to 13h on Liberation Square, and a farmers market and artisans mouth Saturday from 8 am to 13h on Liberation Square.

CO Errantes The festival, a theatrical event, held annually in May in three cities, including Rive-de-Gier.
