The church of St. Martin is located in the town Besse, in the Dordogne. It is a historic monument October 31, 1912.
The church was built in the late 11th century. She was a former Benedictine priory. It remains the bay of the nave nearest the transept and the west front with the portal. The first two bays of the nave were built in the mid 12th century.
In the 14th century, the church became a parish. The transept and chancel date from the 15th century.
In the following century, the church depends on the canonical section of Biron.
In 1648, the church is restored with materials of the old castle which adjoined and in 1811, it is planned to destroy.
In 1961, the paintings are found in the south transept.
