Listed as a Historic Monument, the castle of Beaumont-sur-Sarthe was erected between the 11th and 12th centuries. Many times affected by invasions or destruction, especially during the Hundred Years War, it is now in ruins.
Designed in masonry stone and in the Romanesque style, the castle of Beaumont-sur-Sarthe still stands proudly overlooking the Sarthe. Considered one of the first cut stone keeps, it has a rectangular ground plan.
