- Office de tourisme intercommunal D ? argentan - Chapelle saint-nicolas - The town of Argentan exhibits its lacemaking collections at the Chapelle Saint-Nicolas. - Lace : a social, industrial and artistic influence. - A source of envy and admiration, lace has long been seen as a powerful social symbol. From the 17th to the early 20th century, an industrial empire grew up around the production of lace. - Today, lace is an art object in its own right, influencing contemporary artists who draw inspiration from it through a variety of techniques. - This exhibition takes a closer look at lace, focusing on production in Orléans at the Points d ? Argentan and Alençon, as well as contemporary works illustrating this intergenerational influence. - Let us guide you through this delicate world of lace, past and present. - an atypical work in chocolate - The Art and Design class at Lycée Gabriel, led by artist and interior designer Pierre Philippe, has joined forces with this exhibition to present its creation : "Un village conquis". - The art of lacemaking and the transformation of cocoa into chocolate developed at the same time in Europe. They are linked by the same chronology and the same attention to detail. - The cocoa bean, transformed into chocolate, spread throughout Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries, eventually conquering the world. To celebrate this boom on the old continent, the art and design class chose to create a miniature chocolate village. Each piece of architecture is inspired by the era, with each building contributing to the distribution strategy (ships, ports, delicatessens, etc.). - Each type of chocolate fulfils a specific function : dark chocolate for the architecture of the buildings, milk chocolate for the soil, white chocolate for the rivers, green edible pigment for the grass. - In all, 40 kg of chocolate were needed to design the village, which has a final dimension of 1.70 m x 1.30 m. - A feast for the eyes alone ! - [ ?
