Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, Rendez-vous aux Jardins is an original event designed with the aim of showing the public how important it is to protect green spaces in France. It takes place every year in the first weekend of June. For the occasion, over 2,000 public and private gardens are open to the public. Each new edition focuses on a theme relating to knowledge, protection, conservation and gardening: "the child in the garden", "the stroll", or "colours".
Around 2 million visitors enjoy around 1,300 guided tours as well as 215 exhibitions along with many conferences, readings, gardening workshops for adults and children, and skills demonstrations that take place in the participating gardens and green spaces.
