Located at Troyes, in Aube, the Hôtel-Dieu Pharmacy museum is currently closed to the public for works, it should reopen its doors between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.
In normal times, the site houses the one of the finest apothecaries in France. Originally founded by Henri I, Count of Champagne, in the middle of the 12th century, the Hôtel-Dieu de Troyes was completely rebuilt in the first half of the 18th century. Considered at the time to be one of the most beautiful hospitals in France in terms of its architecture and decoration, it houses an apothecary which served as a pharmacy until the 1960s.
Open to the public since 1976, the Pharmacy museum of the -God thus unveils his large room formerly intended for the conservation of products and plants used in the development of remedies, and a laboratory, a place in which medicines were prepared. Listed as a Historic Monument, the site allows visitors to discover old medicinal boxes in painted wood, an incredible collection of old medicinal earthenware, oak paneling or even a monumental rolling ladder mounted on copper pebbles allowing access to the tallest shelves.
