The Hève lighthouse is located in the town of Sainte-Adresse and was built at the level of the Cap de la Hève, made up of high chalk cliffs dominating the north shore of the Seine estuary.
The current lighthouse designed in concrete by Henri Colboc was commissioned in 1951. A staircase of 161 steps leads to its lantern, 32 meters high, but which dominates the sea level by 102 meters.
In the center of the stairwell, an elevator has been installed which also serves the watch room. The lighthouse tower is also surrounded by a technical building in cut stone, including an office and the machine room. Nearby, the caretaker's house and a storage shed have been built. The whole presents a balanced silhouette, refined decorations but very neat interior fittings.
The range of the fire is 23.7 nautical miles (42.5 km).
Listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments, the lighthouse cannot be visited.
Signaling the access and traffic of the terminals of the port of Le Havre, the lighthouse succeeded two lighthouses built in 1775 which had been in 1863 the first electrified lighthouses in France, but were destroyed in 1944 during the bombardments.
Previously, from the 14th century, a fire tower had operated directly on the cliff...
