Things to see and do

The first chapel of Saint-Romain-d'Ay was built in the eleventh century. This part, always present, is today reserved for Saint Joseph. Enlarged at the end of the eighteenth century, it is famous for having hosted as early as the twelfth century a black Madonna reported by the Crusaders. Replaced at the end of the 16th century, this sculpture was completely restored in the first half of the 19th century. It is still the subject of many pilgrimages today. The sanctuary reveals several restored houses and takes place on a flowery and very pleasant site. It also hosts a Jesuit cemetery.

While strolling in the village, you will also be able to admire the castle of Ay whose dungeon has been restored. There are also vestiges of the old Gallo-Roman ramparts.
