Municipality of Drôme, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, La Roche-de-Glun takes place about ten kilometers from Valence, on the 45th parallel north. It is located at the edge of the Ardèche department, not far from Tain-L'Hermitage, Tournon-sur-Rhône and Pont-de-l'Isère.
The one which owes its name to its location, on a rock, was mainly illustrated in the 13th century with the siege of its castle by Saint Louis on the route of the Crusades. Mainly focused on agriculture and breeding, La Roche-de-Glun experienced significant economic growth between the 14th and 19th centuries, in particular thanks to its clothiers and sailors. In 1968, it was transformed into an island by the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône and therefore developed new tourist activities.
