Orgeval

Orgeval presents an interesting architectural heritage testifying to the importance of the city in past centuries.

Dating from the eleventh century, the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul Orgeval is a beautiful building of Romanesque style, with an octagonal tower. Its nave more recent dates for its sixteenth century.

The castles abound in the town of Orgeval, like Castle Feugères of the Nagorno-Orgeval, or the castle of Brunetterie. The latter is a mansion built in the late nineteenth century on the site of an ancient castle. One can still admire a large main building or common still characterized by a charming duotone. Inside, you can admire the original oak flooring and molding ceilings. The whole is surrounded by a large park sloping.

Not far from the St John chapel, the ruins of the Abbey of Our Lady Abbecourt testify to the presence of the order of Norbertine in the town of Orgeval. It was founded in the late twelfth century by a lord of Poissy. Having been repeatedly rebuilt, the church was finally destroyed during the Revolution, and the rest of the buildings disappeared in the early nineteenth century.

The Orgeval market is held every Wednesday and Saturday morning.

The music of Orgeval held each year in February and offer several opera concerts.

The feast of St. John and many events are held every year in June.
