Castle of Bourran

Monument in Mérignac

A former charterhouse of classical inspiration located at Mérignac, in Gironde, the Château de Bourran was completely redesigned in the second half of the 19th century by Jules and Paul Lafargue for the shipowner Ravesies. Located in the heart of a former wine estate, it now belongs to the department and has notably hosted the Institut Universitaire de Formation des Maîtres d'Aquitaine.

Listed as an historic monument, just like its park landscaped by the landscape designer Louis Le Breton, it still stands proudly in front of the inhabitants who enjoy strolling through its eighteen hectares of landscaped green spaces. On the program, a body of water fed by the Devèze, a romantic bridge in false ruin, an artificial waterfall or even play areas and floral arrangements in bright colors.
