Listed as an historic monument, the Saint-Matthieu church of La Grave, in the Hautes-Alpes, was erected in the middle of the 19th century thanks to the generosity of a local merchant.
Neo-Gothic in style, it was mainly made of limestone tuff, revealing a porch inspired by the 16th century churches of the Southern Alps. Inside, visitors can discover beautiful painted decorations as well as 19th century stained glass windows.
The Saint-Matthieu church of La Grave is presented in the form of an elongated plan with three vessels covered with groin vaults and equipped with a stone spire.
