House of the Vannerie

Capital of French basketry, Fayl-Billot is also the seat of the National School of Osiericulture and Basketry, the only diploma school in France since 1905. As a result, many pieces of basketry remain and form a conservatory of local craft heritage. Some of these pieces take pride of place in the Maison de la Vannerie exhibition, along with modern, figurative, fine pieces and basketry from around the world. Rattan basketry, developed in the first half of the 20th century for furnishing, also has its space on the 2nd floor, juxtaposing a temporary exhibition space which hosts exceptional works. This exhibition is accessible via the tourist office and during its opening hours.
