The castle of Comper takes place on the lands of Concoret, in Morbihan. Located near the famous forest of Brocéliande, it was one of the strongest positions in Upper Brittany in the thirteenth century. Listed as a Historic Monument for its enclosure, its manor house, its courtyard, its dike and its moat, it now houses the Center of the Arthurian Imagination.
The latter offers year-round tours, concerts of medieval music, knightly fights, shows and a thematic exhibition on two levels around the Arthurian legend. In the program of the places, scenographies with costumes, as well as texts and images.
Originally, Castle Comper was a medieval castle that was dismantled at the end of the sixteenth century by Henry IV, then burned under the French Revolution. If there are some remains of the original building, the Renaissance style mansion rebuilt in the nineteenth century today takes almost all space. According to local legend, its lake would house the crystal palace of the famous Viviane that was built by Merlin himself for his sweet. The knight Lancelot would have been raised until his departure for Camelot and the court of King Arthur.
