The Church of St. Martin de Vertus is built on stilts above a source that feeds the pond behind the apse. At this location, we assume that there was already a place of worship Gallic.
Many conflicts have affected the building: Fire (1167, 1230 and 1380 but above that of 1940, when the church lost all its roof, the ceiling of the nave, the belfry, its organs and all the furniture inside.
The Grand Organ, creating Bernard Aubertin, was inaugurated in October 1996. The instrument, the North German style, includes 3 keyboards and 32 stops. His sculptures evoke the work of the vine.
The crypts are a very interesting part to do in the church, and best preserved: Vertus three crypts are unique in Champagne.
