City of Art and History, but also capital of Cornouaille and the Finistère, Quimper is pleasantly situated at the confluence of two rivers, the Steir and the Odet. This place is really charming with numerous footbridges spanning the town's rivers and romantic quays. The medieval character of the old town adds to the beauty of the site. Quimper's old town features a network of narrow medieval streets and small quiet squares. The old corbelled, gabled and half-timbered houses are fantastically well preserved. In the heart of the city, on the main square, stands one of the oldest Gothic cathedrals in Brittany, the Saint-Corentin cathedral, built in the 13th century. The town also has a wealth of cultural places of interest, including the Departmental Museum of Breton Art and Popular Traditions, the Fine Art Museum and the Earthenware Museum.

In July, the famous Cornouaille festival celebrates arts and popular traditions. For the occasion, numerous shows and concerts are organized.
