Fay-aux-Loges

Erected in the 11th century, the Notre-Dame church reveals to its visitors a crossing tower with a 13th century spire. Stone spiers are rare in the area and this one catches the eye of visitors. The Notre-Dame church is revealed in the form of a building with a central nave with two aisles. Restored at the start of the 20th century, the facade still has old door moldings similar to those of Amiens Cathedral. Inside we discover a decor of rare homogeneity. You can admire a 13th century nave vault or a 19th century apse. Of massive and squat character, the building also presents an originality compared to the other churches of the time, of the arcades lowered in the nave. The church of Fay-aux-Loges also unveils several elements classified as Historical Monuments like a 17th century oak lectern or a 15th century statue of Saint Anne.

While walking through the town, do not miss to admire the presbytery, the last vestige of the great domain of La Moinerie, a former farm of the Cistercians. It takes place in an old fortified house with corner towers and has the particularity of presenting a rectangular cellar from the beginning of the 13th century with magnificent carved capitals.

But Fay-aux-Loges is also the 17th century Château de Reuilly, the Saint-Côme fountain, the lime kilns in stone and lime mortar and the old stone quarries.

To take advantage of sunny days, head to the locks of the Orléans canal and their magnificent walks, like the lock at Donnery.

The weekly market is held every Wednesday morning on the Place Simone Veil and in the rue des Maillets. In December, place at the local producers' market.

In May, the town hosts its Fay'stival dedicated to theater, music and dance.

Concerts are organized in June on the occasion of the Fête de la Musique.

In mid-July, Fay-aux-Loges celebrates the National Day with a friendly picnic, a torchlight retreat, fireworks and a ball.
