Chaptelat, the birthplace of St. Eloi.
It is a small village 8 km from the center of Limoges and 3 km from Couzeix where you will find all shops.
Birthplace of Saint Eloi, goldsmith, Minister Dagobert and patron of many corporations, it is also Chaptelat that Aurence, Gold River has its source. The town has hosted such prestigious figures such as Pierre Célestin Rousseau who founded the first school trainee teachers of the Haute-Vienne (forerunner of the teacher-training school).
The Eloi mas, outdoor center of the city of Limoges, served in the First World War as a military hospital, the result, in the cemetery, the presence of many graves of German soldiers, mostly victims of Spanish flu epidemic.
