A truly magical location!
The gite and Loudet just keep drawing us back. It is truly a magical location. Claudia and Huges were so friendly and welcoming us to their home. They are there if we needed advice but otherwise kept themselves to themselves. We have just spent two weeks, over Christmas, in Loudet, which is just perfectly located for exploring the central Pyrenees, the Garonne Valley, and the rolling hills and landscape that it is nestled in, at any time of the year. Loudet, itself, has no shops, so you do need to be organised in terms of provisions but Montrejeau, the nearest town, has plenty of amenities and views of the Garonne valley and Pyrenees, and Saint Gauden is not too far away either. There are so many interesting areas to explore, eg caves, historical buildings, markets etc. We love walking and hiking in the surrounding hills and valleys as well as in the Pyrenees. You will find pamphlets of walks in the gite, as well as plenty of other information of 'things to do'! Downloading the Rando Comminges App of local walks was very good. All walks are very easy to follow and are generally well marked. The gite is so well-equipped, and is warm and cosy for winter stays. The kitchen has just about everything you need to conjure up meals using the local produce, (including a slow cooker!). We just love sitting on the patio area, watching the sunrise over the Pyrenees with coffee or watching the sun set over Pic du Midi with a glass of wine. Within an hour's drive you can be across the Garonne and into the Pyrenees or there is the autoroute to explore further a field. We can't wait to return!
