Saint-Benoist-sur-Vanne is a village halfway between Sens and Troyes.
It consists of two villages, one of which was called Courmorin a long time ago on the south side of the river on the right bank of the Vanne, and another on the left bank Courmononcle, to which is added a farm Isolated Armentières.
The attachment of Courmononcle to Saint Benoist dates from 1854.
It was in 1075 that the bishop of Troyes, Hugh II, donated his rights over Courmorin to the monks of the monastery of Saint-Benoit-sur-Loire.
Courmorin then changed his name to become Saint-Benoist-sur-Vanne.
Armentières was until the Revolution a barn belonging to the abbey of Vauluisant.
