Rich heritage attractions, the village of Igé is known to have been the starting point of the peasant, or Great fear of the Mâconnais. This event which followed the fall of the Bastille in 1789, saw the looting of many mansions stately around the country.

Things to see and do

Charming hotel from the twentieth century, the castle of Igé was built in the first half of the thirteenth century. Sacked and looted in 1789, the house has been completely transformed in the early nineteenth century, especially seeing the disappearance of the moat.

Romanesque St. Benedict Chapel Domange date tenth and eleventh centuries. Listed building, it has a typical architecture of Romanesque art in the region.

Built in the nineteenth century, the Saint-Germain church Igé reveals a charming neoclassical architecture.

A circuit of fun-cars, a related sport stock car, offers some entertainment in the village.
