The Saint-Paul church is located in the commune of Auterive, in the department of Haute-Garonne, 20 km southeast of Muret.
The current building was built in the 12th century, replacing a primitive church then dedicated to Saint Michael.
Romanesque in base, serving the old town and therefore the historic heart of the locality, the church will be enlarged and embellished over the centuries, but it also bears witness to the vicissitudes of history.
Thus, its pretty bell tower-wall like the facade were built in the 14th century. As for the nave, having been affected during the Wars of Religion, notably in 1574, it was rebuilt from 1599 to 1618.
Later still, the building was enlarged after neighboring houses were acquired in this area. effect. Finally, in the 19th century, the brick vaults with ribbed ribs were erected in the 1850s.
The result was a church (now listed in the Inventory) which is a fine example of southern Gothic style with a large nave with five bays opening via semi-circular arcades onto around ten side chapels.
Elements of furniture and works, some classified as objects, are preserved.
We observe in particular the quality of the 18th century barleys, the wall paintings, the pink marble altar in the choir, the statues of Saint Paul and the Immaculate Conception.
