Things to see and do

Partly destroyed, the monastery of Tornac was once the seat of an ancient Benedictine abbey. Completely ruined in the eighth century, it was once under the protection of Charlemagne, before being ruined again during the sixteenth century. Private property today, it can be admired from the outside.

The church of Saint-Baudile was built in the course of the twelfth century. Romanesque, it is built in the shape of a Latin cross. Inscribed in the Historical Monuments, it was rebuilt in the seventeenth century, then restored at the end of the last century following a fire during the War of the Camisards. It takes place in a charming setting of cypress and vineyards, offering an unobstructed view of the ruins of the abbey of Tornac.

You will be able to appreciate the ruins of the old church of Savignac, also of Romanesque style. Built in the 12th century, it is now private property. It is astonishing by its particular architecture with a vaulted apse in the bottom of the oven and original openings in the form of loopholes.

Still in restoration, the castle of Tornac was built between the XIth and the XIIth century. Overlooking the right bank of the Gardon d'Anduze, it used to protect the entrance of the Cévennes and Anduze. You can enjoy a breathtaking view of the neighboring town and the vineyard of the town.

Particularity of Tornac, the village houses the intersection of the 44th parallel north and the 4th meridian east of Greenwich.

Events and festivities

Partially organized in Tornac, the AVeC'envie festival offers in May a program of live shows in all the Cevennes.

As of July 14, the village organizes its popular ball and its fireworks.

In November, Tornac celebrates its new wine festival with tastings and animations.
