Small rural village located 7 km from Ales, 45 km from Nîmes and 65 km from Montpellier; Bagard currently exceeds 2400 inhabitants.
Along the great fault of the Cevennes, the limestone massifs are located in the hills northwest of the town, the undulating plain of southern part of basin collapse of Ales.
The village was built on the grounds of a castle belonging to the Templars of Ales and to protect the road to Ales Anduze.
