Lissac just Liciaco (name mentioned from the 10th century) which means "field Liscius". The suffix-ac comes from Latin and means "field".
Lissac took the name Lissac-sur-Couze in 1919 by decision of the Municipal Council in order to differentiate it from other towns of the same name.
Lissac-sur-Couze is located south-west of the Corrèze Corrèze on the plateau, 10 km from Brive (canton of Larche, district of Brive), and is part of the Community of Municipalities Vézère-Causse since 2002.
Varied geological environment due to the presence of two faults (the Meyssac and the Lissac).
