Dolancourt

Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Aube

Town of the Dawn, Dolancourt is a small village of about 150 inhabitants located on the Côte des Bar. At about ten kilometers from Bar-sur-Aube, the village is best known for hosting the Nigloland amusement park, Disneyland third behind France and Parc Asterix.

Already inhabited in Roman times, Dolancourt still has some traces of this period, as well as interesting historical and architectural heritage. If the village is small, its great tourist appeal makes it an ideal home, thanks to the presence of four or three star hotels.

The amusement park and buildings are not the only attractions of the town of Dolancourt. Indeed, natural heritage is also very important in this part of the Dawn, since the village is part of the Regional Natural Park of the Orient Forest.

Things to see and do

Dolancourt is a town in the Aube best known for its amusement park, the famous Nigloland, which attracts over 500,000 visitors a year. Installed in 1987, Nigloland quickly became the third theme park in France behind Disneyland and Parc Asterix. It is named after its mascot, Niglo, meaning hedgehog in Romani language. Divided into four thematic areas, the Canadian town, the village rock'n'roll, the wonderful village and the Swiss village, it has a large number of attractions for all ages. Roller coasters, water rides, thrill rides and other mini golf, Car circuit or other performances are thus essential in this magical place.

Dolancourt also has an interesting architectural heritage, like the Saint-Léger church built in the twelfth century, and a new church built in the mid-nineteenth century. One can still admire fragments of a baptismal font of the fifteenth century now listed on the inventory of Historical Monuments. The church of Saint-Léger also houses a tombstone of the late thirteenth century, also listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments.

Walking through the village center, it is possible to admire a beautiful wash house built in 1855 and restored in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Common Regional Natural Park of the Orient Forest, Dolancourt is an ideal place to admire the fauna and the local flora. Different paths for hiking and mountain biking are accessible from the village or around it.
