Located in the heart of Île Sainte-Marguerite, the largest and wildest of the Lérins Islands, the Cannes sea museum is an opportunity to discover incredible collections on underwater and terrestrial archeology.
They take place in the Fort Royal erected in the 17th century and which also houses the State Prisons with the very famous cell of the Man in the Iron Mask. On the ground floor and on the first floor, visitors can thus discover Roman cisterns, wrecks of ancient ships or even models and various objects found during underwater archaeological excavations.
The museum of the sea of Cannes also offers exhibitions of fragments of mural paintings as well as a circuit of demonstrations allowing to discover the colors and the materials used by the Romans in Antiquity.
Outside, several aquariums allow you to admire the marine fauna of the Lérins Islands (hermit crab, starfish, shrimp, etc.). The site also offers educational workshops on the marine ecosystem as well as thematic exhibitions.
