Founded in 1984, the Cannes Dance Festival is a major meeting place for the world of contemporary and current dance. It is part of the city of Cannes’ long-standing relationship with the Dance world, which was fuelled by the opening of the Rosella Hightower International Dance Centre in 1961.
Since 1993, this biennial event has succeeded in forming its own identity by putting on many performances oriented towards contemporary dance, as well as presenting new talents from the choreography scene and the work of well-known dance companies.
