Town of nearly 12 000 inhabitants, Bolbec takes place in Normandy, in the department of Seine-Maritime. Located upstream of the valley of the Commerce, it is to eighty kilometers of Rouen, in the middle of the Country of Caux.
Inhabited since Antiquity, the city of Bolbec has mainly developed thanks to the presence of mills that punctuated the river since the Middle Ages. This is how the town was marked by the textile industry until the beginning of the 20th century. She was known for her Indian production. Although today there are few physical traces of this golden age, it has deeply marked the city and its inhabitants.
Bolbec, full of charm, still presents a very beautiful architectural and historical heritage that seduces visitors visiting the region. Verte, the commune awarded three flowers in the competition of cities and floral villages of France, also reveals a natural and pleasant.
Built in the second half of the eighteenth century on the remains of an ancient edifice of the 11th century, the church of Saint-Michel is today classified Historic Monuments. Inside, the organ, which comes from the Sainte-Croix-Saint-Ouen church in Rouen and dates back to the 1630s, is also classified as an Historic Monument as an object.
Built by a textile manufacturer in memory of its parents, the Sainte-Anne chapel was designed by the architect Jean-Alexandre Navarre and reveals beautiful interior frescoes by Paul Baudoüin. Do not miss the Protestant temple at the end of the 18th century.
Former factory mansion, the town hall of Bolbec was sold to the city at the end of the XIXth century. In the public garden that surrounds it, it is possible to admire some very beautiful statues classified to the Historic Monuments, Diane chasseresse and The Arts raised by the Time, and which come from the castle of Marly. A few years ago, the originals returned to their places of origin and today one can admire copies.
Former leprosarium of the twelfth century, the current castle of Val-au-Grès dates from the eighteenth century. After hosting many priories, it was transformed into a cultural center in the 1970s.
Classified as Historical Monuments, the manor of Cailletot dates back to the sixteenth century. In brick, sandstone, flint and white stone, it unveils at its sides a pigeon house and a dwelling house listed in the supplementary inventory of Historical Monuments.
There are still some vestiges of the mills that made the glory of Bolbec between the Middle Ages and the beginning of the twentieth century. It is thus possible to discover the mills of Vallot and Seminel.
Housed in a former textile factory, the textile workshop-museum of Bolbec traces the whole chain of cotton work thanks to teams of volunteers.
The market is held every Monday morning.
In June, the festival of the Esplanade presents different activities for children and adults such as games, shows, a meal or sports demonstrations.
In August, place at the St. Lawrence fair.
An international half-marathon takes place in September.
The city also offers a Christmas market in December.

The choir windows were designed by the master stained-glass artist. They are inspired both by the emblematic sites of the Bolbécais heritage and by the frescoes on the chapel walls, created by Paul Baudouin. The designs depict the plants and flowers in the frescoes, as well as Bolbec's heritage, including architecture, industrial history and places of worship. - This sparkling evening will be an opportunity to (re) discover the restoration of these stained glass windows, as well as the building, built between 1902 and 1904, remarkable for the mural frescoes decorating the walls inside. These were created by Rouen artist Paul Baudouin, a recognized specialist in his field in the early 20th century. - During a convivial evening in an exceptional setting, illuminated by hundreds of candles, come and meet Didier Bourdeau, the master glassmaker, to talk to him about this fascinating and very special art he has been practicing for some fifty years, and to discover his creations.
