Village of Aude, in the Occitanie region, Bages takes place about sixty kilometers from the fortified city of Carcassonne, in the heart of the urban area of Narbonne. The town is located on the Robine canal and the pond of Bages-Sigean, not far from Peyriac-de-Mer, Portel-des-Corbières and Coursan.
Occupied since prehistoric times, the territory of Bages began to develop in Gallo-Roman times. A strategic place for the politico-religious conflicts of the 16th and 17th centuries, the village then experienced many tumults, especially during the revolt of the Duke of Montmorency. Long focused on agriculture, livestock, fishing or even crafts, the village is still known for its wine-growing activity, with the production of local wine from the Coteaux du Littoral Audois, and fishing, in particular with the eel.
