The hotel du Bosc is located at Albi, in the street which now bears the name of the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec: the artist was indeed born in this mansion in 1874, but he spent most of his childhood in the castle of his maternal family, in the neighboring department of Aveyron.
Protected as a historic monument, the oldest parts of the building date from the 12th century, then built on the walls of the city. The main building is even connected to a turret via a brick bridge.
The floors are later (17th, 18th), accessible via a monumental staircase. The ensemble was restored at the start of the 20th century.
Note that the neighboring house belonged to another famous child of the city, the navigator Lapérouse.
The Hôtel de Bosc cannot be visited but the site can mark out a free or guided walk devoted to Toulouse-Lautrec or to the historic center of the city. Information on +33 5 63 36 36 00.
