Located in the commune of Les Allues, in the department of Savoie, the ski resort of Meribel is a site of the Tarentaise Valley. It is part of the ski area of the 3 Valleys, and sees its population multiplied by 10 in the winter season.
Located at more than 1,400 meters above sea level, the ski resort of Méribel enjoys a high-end image because of its luxurious and quality infrastructure. Founded by a Scotsman a few years before the beginning of the Second World War, it is now the only station in the department to have obtained the label Classified tourism station. It is also labeled Famille Plus Montagne, Stations grandes domaines, and Station village.
The Meribel ski resort is divided into five villages located at different altitudes: Méribel-Les Allues, Méribel-Village, Méribel-Center, Méribel-Les Hauts, and finally, Méribel-Mottaret. There are 76 alpine ski runs of different levels, as well as 4 red, blue and green cross-country ski trails.
The site also has an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and mountain bike trails. Restaurants, casinos, bars or discotheques are also on the program of the stay.
The municipality on which Méribel is located is also part of the Paths of Baroque, thanks to its church.
