Le Bateau de Neons sur Creuse

This old farmhouse located in La Brenne national park was a beautiful place to stay for an authentic experience of old France. Whilst it is in need of restoration it retains all its charming period features and is practical enough for people who are prepared and not expecting or indeed wanting "luxury". All the utilities are basic but work well and the price correctly reflected the condition of the property. The location is superb being by a slow flowing, shallow river where it was possible to swim and canoe safely and there are all the wildlife experiences of La Brenne on your doorstep.. The house comes equipped with 2 canoes (one 2 man and one single) and 6 bikes 4 of which were usable after a little maintenance. There is an authentic old bread oven with bbq and outside deckchairs to rest in the shaded garden. The local village Tournon Saint Martin is located 2 miles away and has all the normal facilities of a small French town. The nearest decent supermarket is at Yzeures sur Cruse about 10 km away. The owner, Olivier, was most attentive meeting us at the property and showing us round and answering any queries that we had. There was a problem with the main drainage towards the end of our stay which he sorted out efficiently to our complete satisfaction. I can thoroughly recommend this property and its owner.

We enjoyed our stay very much. It is a simple but beautiful traditional farm. It has a beutiful large garden and it is a really nice and quiet place. Step out of the garden and you can swim in the river. The nature around the house is splended.
