In 1883, the railway line Langres / Poinson-Beneuvre was opened to the public. As early as 1934, the Compagnie de l'Est no longer wanted to exploit this low-traffic line, which nevertheless retained an interest in the army. The line is therefore kept for strategic reasons. In 1955, the passenger service, which had become almost useless, was abandoned. On December 1, 1963, the goods service was abolished. The line is then downgraded and dismantled. The removal of the 26 000 sleepers was completed on April 17, 1967. It was in 1999 that the first studies and field surveys carried out by the Tourist Office of the Country of Langres appeared. With the agreement of the various municipalities, it is finally the Mixed Tourist Development Association of the Lakes and the Country of Langres which will realize the transformation of this old line of railway in quiet route. Itinerary

Today, this hill has become a place of religious devotion. It hosts a chapel whose dome supports a colossal statue of the Virgin, cast in the north of the department, Sommevoire. Neo-Gothic style, it was built by the Langrois in 1873, in thanks to Mary. They thus respected their wish contracted during the war of 1870 envisaging its construction if the city escaped the entry of the Prussians. This is why she is dedicated to Our Lady of Deliverance. The story tells that on November 16, 1870, Prussian detachments arrived near Langres, occupying the surrounding villages: Champigny, Peigney, Jorquenay and Hûmes. Soldiers and inhabitants then prepared for a possible siege, several shots were fired from the ramparts. But the next day the enemy withdrew. The same story was repeated on December 16th and January 16th. Then the war ended, without Langres suffering neither siege nor destruction. For the local population, the protection of the Virgin was evident and the wish fulfilled. The chapel was built on the plans of architect Girard. Octagonal plan and measuring 18m in height, it is decorated with a stained glass window representing the wish of the city of Langres to the Virgin. Among the characters, we recognize a bishop, a priest and a couple, man and woman. The blessing and inauguration took place on May 25, during a grand ceremony that brought together some 25,000 people, including civilian and military authorities. Since that day, whenever May 24 falls on a Sunday, a big religious festival is organized. In 1901, a great ordeal bearing the names of the French soldiers died during the wars of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 was placed near the chapel.
