The balconies of Gourette

Depart from the town of Eaux-Bonnes, latitude 42.958167 (N 42° 57’ 29”), longitude -0.33243 (W 0° 19’ 57”)

• Departure

• From the Maison de Gourette, in the heart of the resort, take the pedestrian path that goes up towards the Proxi store. Continue the climb on your left through the residences following the blue railings. Then take the pedestrian path on your right, marked by wooden barriers that crosses the Belambra holiday club to reach the car park (follow the red and white markings). From the car park take the stairs that go up towards the wooden chalets, leaving behind the reception of the holiday club. Continue the climb following the path that winds. You arrive at the foot of the Water Tower. Continue until you reach the junction and then take the track on your right.

• Mounted on balconies

• You are on the balconies of Gourette. Take in the views as you progress along the uncusable main trail. From the balconies you can admire the resort of Gourette and its emblematic peaks: The Pic du Sanctus, the Pene Sarriere or the Pic de Ger. You follow the red and white markings for a while then at the crossing leave this markings on your left and continue on the main track. Attention: do not follow the GR10 towards the Col de Tortes on the left towards the forest (hike with steep drop). The trail continues on the main track. The path leads you for a short part in the undergrowth before starting the descent towards the resort.

• Return

• Start the descent on the path towards the parking lot of the Cardet holiday center. From here you can admire the Vallon du Valentin which opens in front of you. You will find the start of the great zip line of Gourette. The path leads you to the parking lot of the holiday center Le Cardet. From there you can, following the road, return to the start in the heart of the resort and the Maison de Gourette. You can, from the Cardet car park, continue on the walk of the Sports Course by taking the path that goes down towards the tennis courts (red and white beacon of the GR10 towards Lake Anglas. At the tennis courts take the path that appears on your right towards the small bridge that passes over the stream Le Valentin. This trail will take you in thirty minutes to the foot of the slopes and then to the center of the resort (Place Sarriere).
