The International Short Film Festival started in 1979 at a student film club in Clermont-Ferrand. It has since become the world’s biggest event dedicated to short film. With 13 cinemas, over 3,000 certified professionals and 150,000 admissions, Clermont-Ferrand is also the second biggest film festival in France after Cannes.
The Short Film Market, a unique event, is open to professionals every year alongside the festival. Many directors, actors, producers and technicians have seen their careers take off in the capital of Auvergne, years before moving on to feature film-making.
