The Hippodrome du Portillon is located in the town of Ventou, in Loire-Atlantique, about ten kilometers south-east of Nantes.
Bordering the course of the Sèvre Nantaise which dominates on the other bank the castle of Frémoire, it has a grass track of 1,200 m including a straight line of 370 m, with rope on the right.
This green site has been hosting races since 1895. Composed of volunteers who take care of both the quality of the track and the friendly atmosphere (a Sunday morning ride in the city center precedes the races), the company which manages the racecourse has two meetings at the end of August.
The first is made up of 11 trotting races and the second is dedicated to obstacle courses. Bets are taken on the racetrack. Activities dedicated in particular to young audiences are offered.
