The Espace Sport & Nature de Saint-Ferréol is located in the town of Sorèze, in the Tarn, 27 km southwest of Castres.
It borders Lake Saint-Ferréol, a reservoir built in the 17th century on the slopes of the Montagne Noire to supply water to the Canal du Midi. As a result, the 67 hectares of the lake are classified as a UNESCO world heritage site. It also partly covers the localities of Revel and Vaudreuille (Haute-Garonne) and Brunels (Aude).
Although it is possible to enjoy the green environment of the lake all year round and to follow the route which surrounds it (4.5 km) in any season, it is in summer that the site is lively and popular with a family audience who can swim there (supervised beach) and practice numerous water activities (pedal boat, windsurfing, catamaran, canoe, kayak or paddle), or "land" (tree climbing park, mountain bike rental, orienteering, mini-golf, etc.).
Apart from swimming and walking, activities are subject to payment and qualified instructors can lead introductory sessions.
