Located in the heart of the Gironde, the church of Saint-Maixant is now listed in the Historic Monuments for its Roman apse and choir. Originally built in the 12th century, it underwent significant reconstruction in the 19th century.
Built with a large piece of limestone, the church of Saint-Maixant is structured by four buttresses, revealing very beautiful historiated modillions on the front. On the south side of the nave, visitors can admire a small cubic apparatus as well as a door walled with thin keystones, witnesses of its pre-Romanesque origins.
