The small seaside village of Pont-l'Évêque is nestled on the banks of the Oise in a beautiful natural environment. The commune takes its name from the bishop of Noyon who in his time had a bridge built on the Oise and asked for an episcopal toll. This lasted until the old regime and if the toll has disappeared, the village has retained its port physiognomy. The houses stand along the harbor docks where many events take place. The canal is an integral part of the village and the inhabitants are often as comfortable on land as on water. This is why you will be able to see many unusual and picturesque river festivals.
