Things to see and do

Listed as a Historic Monument, the castle of Neuvic was built in the 16th century on the banks of the Isle. From the Renaissance period, the building has preserved vaulted rooms, very beautiful wall paintings and a three-level stone sink. As you stroll through the heart of this furnished castle, you can also discover a Louis XV Grand Salon, a chapel and a romantic grotto built in the 18th century. Accessible by guided tour retracing the history of the place up to its legacy in 1950 to the Fondation Hospices des Orphelines de Périgueux, the site is open to visitors from April to October, on Wednesdays and Saturdays (by appointment).

The botanical park of the castle of Neuvic is open to visitors all year round. It is a true haven of peace where nature displays all its splendor on 6 hectares of lush greenery. This plant oasis is home to an impressive collection of trees and shrubs, including majestic oaks, delicate peonies, elegant maples and many other species.

A water mill dating from the 16th century, the Veyssière mill is the last active oil mill in the Vern valley at Neuvic-sur-l'Isle. Since 1857, oils and flours with character (walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and peanuts) have been produced there in an artisanal manner. A true living heritage, a place of life and sharing, the mill has retained its authentic character which will delight both lovers of old stones and lovers of gastronomy.

A stone's throw from the mill, the Caviar estate of Neuvic reveals itself: a fish farm dedicated to the breeding of sturgeons to produce its famous caviar. Through comments full of humor and unusual anecdotes, the guide will explain to you how modern farming methods respect fish and nature.

Built between the 13th and 14th centuries, Fratteau Castle has undergone several modifications over the centuries. Private property, it notably reveals a 17th century entrance and hosts an artisanal pottery workshop.

As you stroll through the town, don't miss the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church, a Romanesque domed building with a 19th century apse. Don't hesitate to stop by the Tourist Office to pick up the city center circuit to discover the points of interest!

Passing through Neuvic, you will be seduced by a walk on the banks of the Isle to enjoy the local fauna and flora. Many activities are possible: canoe-kayak or stand-up paddle boarding on the river, electric boat ride, mini-golf, leisure center, swimming pool with water slides, horseback or pony rides.

As for hiking, marked paths are offered (map available at the Tourist Office) on trails and forest paths. The Vallée de l'Isle greenway cycle route running along the river allows you to walk or cycle.

Treasure hunts for children are offered by the Tourist Office: Sam the Little Detective and Akira.
